Vehicle software and hardware interaction test box development

For a large Nordic truck and bus client a team of inContext engineers is building test boxes that enable testing of the complex interaction between vehicle software and hardware. When new vehicle components are being introduced – whether hardware or software – they need to be tested thoroughly before moving into production. For this the client has established a large test department, named The Integration Lab.

Modifying standard trucks to fit defence purposes

inContext contributes with expert wire harness knowledge to the “Special Order” department of a large Nordic truck manufacturer. The S-order department modifies standard trucks to fit them to specific client needs, for instance search & rescue, fire fighting or defence.

S-order vehicles often pose complex technical challenges that require thinking out-of-the-box. On top of that, S-order clients expect fast development with short time from prototype to delivery, so the developers have to meet tight deadlines.

Digitalisation of global servicing and maintenance

A Swedish company producing temperature-controlled air cargo containers for transporting sensitive pharmaceuticals has service stations placed across the globe, to check the containers after each assignment and servicing them if needed.
inContext has assisted the company in digitalizing the maintenance workflow, for more efficient and correct servicing. inContext experts have designed a system replacing printed manuals with tablet based equivalents, enabling fully digital reporting of servicing and repairs.

Improving the capabilities of hybrid trucks

We have assisted a large Nordic truck manufacturer in upgrading its hybrid truck. The upgrades include integrating new charging capabilities and increasing the truck’s range when running on batteries. To complete the truck’s regenerative braking system for charging by capturing kinetic energy, the new version of the hybrid truck has been equipped with an additional CCS-type charger, for charging the truck’s batteries when it is parked. Also, to increase the range of the electric powertrain the truck has been equipped with two additional batteries.

Managing refurbishment and upgrading of passenger coaches

We are implementing equipment upgrades for a large Nordic railway company, operating nearly 30 different types of passenger coaches, including sleeping and dining coaches. Railway coaches are sturdily built and can last for decades. But they need regular upgrading and refurbishment for them to live up to modern standards, and for improved customer experience. inContext provides technical project management of all levels of upgrades, including electronics, lighting, interior and exterior design, water systems, refrigerators, water boilers, new seats etc.
