Johan predicts 2024

We had a brief conversation with our CTO to discuss the past year and let him predict 2024. Johan wants to see more knowledge sharing, new ideas for second-life batteries, less AI-generated articles, and he will spend a lot of time with his son.

What was the best with 2023?
– Becoming a father.

What was the worst with 2023?
– On a bigger scale, wars. Work-wise, inefficient utilization of personnel.

Okay, can you elaborate on what you mean by inefficient utilization?
– There is a lack of expertise within our field and to see an ineffective usage of our consultants, and engineers in general is something that irritates me.

What’s your best memory from work in 2023?
– Our ski trip to Åre in March was fantastic! Does that count as work memory?

Of course! What trends are you predicting in 2024?
– I foresee a continued emphasis on sustainability, more focus on EV battery materials and production, and new cool ideas for second-life usage of these. Of course growth in the defense sector, perhaps some of the closed-down startup companies in the EV sector will come up with new products within defense. And then I hope the expansion of the power grid infrastructure truly starts on a bigger scale.

What will be your focus in 2024?
My son.. I will spend most of the year on parental leave.

Do you have any New Year’s resolutions?
Not directly, but like many others, I would like to be more active. As a manager at inContext, I also want to ensure that our employees have the opportunity to do so, and we are planning several activities throughout the year. This includes participating in running races, playing padel and badminton, climbing, and more.

Where do you see inContext will grow in 2024?
– Hopefully in all sectors, but to point out some I would say defense and power grid sector. Currently, we have around 15 employees helping several clients within defense and MIL standards. During 2024 we will certainly increase both the number of employees working within this field and as well the number of clients.

What would you like to see more of in 2024?
– Knowledge sharing that goes beyond explicit knowledge. I want us to try new ways of sharing implicit knowledge.

And how will that be done?
– I think that the key thing is to be involved, have an interactive way of teaching, and have a dialog within the area of knowledge for a longer time. Workshops, mentoring, forum discussions, etc.

What would you like to see less of in 2024?
– AI-generated articles that are rich in text but lack substantive content.

How do we know that this isn’t AI-generated?
– What?
